Porcelain

Discovered through a slow evolution in China around 2,000 years ago, Porcelain is a non-porous, hard material whose delicate strength and translucent white surface make it ideal for Tableware. Consisting of Quartz, Kaolin and rock, it has to be fired in a kiln at 1,200 and 1,400 °C (2,200 and 2,600 °F), which gives it its hard durability. Porcelain has been very popular primarily due to its ability to absorb glazes and paints, giving designers free reign to create some unique and stunning pieces.
